Vedic Mathematics - Magical Methods 2

The previous post in this topic was useful in solving mathematical problems which
involved finding the square of numbers ending with '5'. Then naturally, the question arises as to what method one could adopt for other items. Well..Vedic Mathematics has a solution to any such problems. Only thing is that it simplyfies everything.

Vedic Mathematics works on the ancient Indian teaching system. It is simple and easy to learn. With these you can do the following:

  1. Solve mathematical Problems 10 - 15 times faster

  2. Reduce burden - Makes multiplication and division easier

  3. Increase concentration

Now we can try to find out whether the Magical Method 1 can be used cases other

than finding the square of numbers ending with 5. Lets try with one simple example.

Example 1 : 13 X 17

13 X
17
--------
91
13
--------
221
========

Now let us try applying the Magical Methods

1 3 X
1 7
--------------------------
((1+1) X 1) (3X7)
--------------------------
Makes it (2) (21)
==========================

Great!...It works here too..

Let us now consider another example

Example 2: 54 X 56

54 X
56
--------
324
270
--------
3024
========

Using Magical Methods

5 4 X
5 6
--------------------------
((5+1) X 5) (4X6)
--------------------------
Makes it (30) (24)
==========================

Example 3: 88 X 82

88 X
82
--------
176
704
--------
7216
========

Using Magical Methods

88 X
82
--------
7216
========

Summary:
The above method can be applied when you multiply two numbers having the sum of the last digits come to 10 and the tenth place being the same
